<p><strong>Josefina López (b. 1981, Santiago, Chile)</strong> is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, photographer, conservator, and cultural manager. From an early age, she has looked at the world through photography with a distinctive sensitivity, strongly influenced by painting. Her visual narrative extends across different realms, from the intimate to the public, and from still life and portraiture to landscape and urban spaces.</p><p>After graduating in 2006 from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a degree in Art, specializing in Conservation-Restoration and Cultural Management, she began her professional career as a conservator-restorer. In 2011, she founded Conservarts, a studio dedicated to the conservation and documentation of works of art, which she continues to direct today. Through Conservarts, she has led large-scale projects for museums and cultural institutions and has been responsible for the care and management of significant art collections.</p><p>Within this context, photography became an instrument for the study and observation of artworks and artistic spaces. It also became a means of bringing visibility to an unusual profession that remains largely unknown to the wider public.</p><p>She has photographed major art institutions in several countries and undertaken research residencies and professional placements at Tate in London (2013–2015) and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (2019). These experiences deepened her knowledge and opened new paths into the international field of art conservation.</p><p>Moving far beyond documentation, her photographic practice reaches its full potential when it develops into a personal body of work. Josefina creates images that transcend the documentary recording of the art world, aesthetically transforming it through a subjective perspective.</p><p>In 2017, she presented <em>1/15 de silencio</em> (<em>A Roomful of Silence</em>), her first solo exhibition at Galería NAC in Santiago. The exhibition brought together a photographic body of work developed over eight years of research.</p><p>After five years of intensive work overseeing the comprehensive management of the Bartholdson Collection (Santiago–Sweden), in 2025 she chose to pursue the Master’s Programme in Photographic Projects at PHotoESPAÑA and La Fábrica. She participated in the group exhibition <em>Desplazamientos. Fotografía e identidad</em> (<em>Displacements: Photography and Identity</em>) at the Centro de Arte Complutense in Madrid, as part of the official PHotoESPAÑA 2025 programme. In this exhibition, her photography, curatorial practice, and work with collections once again intersect.<br></p>
